Success Stories
August 2025

In today’s fast-paced litigation environment, privilege review can quickly become one of the most complex and resource-intensive parts of discovery. Tight deadlines, massive data volumes, and the risk of waived privilege leave little room for error. When a client found themselves in the middle of a high-stakes dispute with a privilege review deadline looming, they turned to PLUSnxt for support. Leveraging our proven review playbook and RelativityOne’s aiR for Privilege, our team delivered a defensible, cost-effective, and highly efficient review.

How it Started

During a fast-moving case involving privilege review, our client turned to us for assistance. With first-level review yielding nearly an 85% responsiveness rate, the pressure to complete this review quickly grew even more intense. In a dispute over software development and payment, the client trusted PLUSnxt’s expert Review team to also manage this complex privilege review involving hundreds of privileged parties—all to be confirmed in less than a week. To meet the compressed deadline and reduce costs, the PLUS team leveraged RelativityOne’s aiR for Privilege.

The Challenge

This privilege review presented significant challenges—hundreds of privileged parties to confirm and a rapidly approaching deadline. The team faced both substantive and logistical hurdles, needing to review and QC more than 13,000 documents and prepare a privilege log in just a few days. The PLUS team leveraged RelativityOne’s aiR for Privilege and their proven GenAI review playbook to navigate a review filled with gray areas and nuance, while also producing the privilege log.

Our Solutions

Due to their refined review processes and by utilizing aiR for Privilege, the PLUS Review team was able to complete this demanding review in less than one week. The PLUS Team collaborated with the client throughout the process to create customized aiR for Privilege pipeline workflows and to narrow and refine privilege determinations. The team’s application of aiR for Privilege allowed for the completion of the review resulting in reduced fees, less review time, and better overall work quality. Moreover, they were able to provide measurable metrics for precision and recall as well as verifiable and auditable decisions for each record.

The use of aiR for Privilege provided more consistency across the review which led to a reduction in quality control review. During the review, the PLUS team collaborated with the client’s legal team that required the client’s input to make delicate decisions on documents. The collaborative effort between the client’s legal team and PLUS resulted in only ~ 8% of records requiring the client’s input. In addition, employing aiR for Privilege allowed the PLUS team to provide a foundational draft privilege log requiring little quality control review and saving innumerable hours checking and verifying thousands of privilege entries, names, and details manually.

The PLUS team’s utilization of aiR for Privilege resulted in a 46% reduction in cost compared to a traditional document review workflow, as well as reduced risk and better outcomes by identifying unknown privileged parties that would have resulted in privilege being waived and creating additional work for the case team.
